ONDA acquires flagship property

July 1, 2021 Joe Morgan

Having scoured the four corners of Costa Rica, in search of the perfect place to call home and launch the first ONDA, we are extremely proud to announce that we have secured a property in Playa Grande – a popular surfing town and beach community located along the north Pacific Coast just north of Tamarindo.

The 10 key property situated adjacent to the Marina Las Baulas National Park and just a 5 minute walk from the beach will be the flagship location for ONDA, allowing our vision to be brought to life, and become a leading player in a newly-emerging hospitality segment that exists in the white space between hostels, hotels, and coliving.

Acquired in July 2021, the team will spend the summer and fall working on renovations to be ready for the grand opening this winter. Our plan includes adding guest capacity, building out a dedicated coworking space, and creating a destination bar/restaurant appealing to the Playa Grande community. We’re still putting the finishing touches on the redevelopment plans, but look forward to sharing them with you as soon as they’re ready!

Playa Grande Park Hotel

Our goal is to deliver a best-in-class experience to guests, employees, and the communities in which we operate in a scalable, sustainable fashion – using our first property in Playa Grande to lay the groundwork for future expansion.

Slightly over one hour by car from Liberia airport (LIR), which has direct flights to ~15 destinations in North America, Playa Grande is the perfect spot for those looking to start their Costa Rica vacation, surf some of the best waves in the world, experience the hatching of leatherback turtles or spend a week working remote with sunsets on the beach to end your days instead of zoom happy hours.

ONDA anticipates adding two additional Costa Rican destinations in 2022, the locations of which have yet to be announced.
